What is CFD analysis?

CFD analysis relies on mathematical equations such as conservation of mass, momentum and energy to predict the flow of fluid. It breaks down a complex 3D space into a grid of smaller cells then performs a combination of calculations to simulate fluid behaviour. The user learns what would happen within a unique space that represents a real, specific environment to a fluid’s:

  • Velocity
  • Pressure
  • Temperature
  • Heat transfer
  • Flow
  • Interaction with solid structures and other fluids

It is an invaluable tool used to optimise designs, troubleshoot issues and predict performance before physical implementation.

Rochem’s CFD experience and capabilities

At Rochem FYREWASH®, we’ve been utilising CFD analysis for over 20 years to ensure our cleaning systems are the most effective and efficient possible. Making use of this technology allows us to determine the best combination of equipment, placement and flow rate for optimum wetting and cleaning before committing to physical amendments.

Our CFD calculation process

Our technical team at Rochem FYREWASH®can model your current gas turbine compressor inlet and air inlet complete[MH1] with existing cleanåing system. Then, using specialist software, they can digitally amend this system to determine an engineered solution proven to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of your cleaning system.

All this preparation enables our engineers to create optimised, bespoke nozzles; determine ideal installation locations; and recommend a flow rate and cleaning schedule for predictable, reliable results.

The ultimate outcome is a real-life cleaning system which you are confident provides the best cleaning possible while keeping costs to a minimum.
